Permission to Be
Why do you want to become better, stronger, smarter, more virtuous?
It would be wonderful to say that this is simply life expressing its natural impulse to grow. But more often, the reason is that we are dissatisfied with ourselves. Most of us were never given permission to simply be as we are – and so we don’t grant ourselves that permission either.
“I’m not good enough yet to relax.”
“If I stop pushing myself with everything I’ve got, I’ll lose even what I have.”
What a relief it is when someone accepts us completely.
People who experience this for the first time often say,
“Wow… I feel inspired. Now I’m genuinely curious about growing and changing.”
No pushing.
No criticism.
No harsh voices—from others or from within ourselves.
When you are given permission to be, you relax.
From that place of ease, you can gently look within:
How am I, really?
What is ready to fall away?
What new thing is beginning to emerge?
And change happens – not through pressure, but through joy.
Meanwhile, what is most essential in you remains unchanged, because it never needed fixing in the first place.
